Louisiana’s Cajun Nation is likely one of the most unusual areas of the USA. It is formally known as Acadiana, after the French-speaking Acadians who settled there after being exiled from Canada by the British within the 18th century.
Our month-to-month collection, Acadiana Music Showcase, is produced by our buddies at Lafayette, La., affiliate station KRVS, and it explores this vibrant cultural melting pot via music.
At the moment, we’re placing the highlight on Good Prblms. This hip-hop collective (G-Reg, Jinaki, Maudixi and Rick Valentino) consists of scholars and alumni from the College of Louisiana, Lafayette. They met via the varsity’s personal music label, RAGIN’ Data. In the previous few years, Good Prblms have made inroads within the metropolis’s zydeco-heavy scene, enjoying exhibits regionally and regionally, and even opening for Tank and the Bangas in New Orleans.
